Education and Training

These Professional qualifying examinations are designed to reflect the best professional management practice and are constantly updated to meet the latest requirements of Industrial, Commercial, Service and Public organisations.

Each level comprises a study programme of minimum duration of one year. Students may elect to study by distance learning or with one of a number of selected colleges.

An aspiring or established manager completing the International Professional Managers Association qualifying examinations has a recognisable portfolio of skills and knowledge at the leading edge of best management practice. In addition, those successfully undertaking all four levels, completing a qualifying project and an Internship can gain the designation as a Certified International Professional Manager (CIPM).

Completion of International Professional Managers Association qualifying examinations and subsequent membership status are designed to create a pathway to the best and the most rewarding professional management careers.

Management Stream - Foundation

This level is intended for those on the first step of a Professional Management career. It provides

  • A basic framework for the understanding of the practical skills required by any aspiring manager working at a supervisory level;
  • The basic knowledge and skills required for effective management;
  • A programme of practically based study undertaken at selected Colleges, or during employment which includes carefully supervised projects and assignments over a period of one year;

Entry Qualifications to this programme are A- Level GCE or equivalent

An extension of the studies undertaken for Professional Part 1, but in greater depth

  • A consideration of the mechanisms and strategies to achieve desired management goals and objectives
  • A practical understanding of corporate management policy and the management of change as related to the route undertaken (that is General Management, Marketing or Computing)
  • A carefully supervised major project in an area of activity relevant to the participant’s chosen employment; and

Entry Qualifications to this programme are the completion of the International Professional Managers Association Professional Part 1 qualifying examinations or a recognised Master’s Degree or equivalent.

Exemptions may be considered from individuals with significant work experience at senior executive level

No exemptions will be granted from the Case Studies examination of the Professional Part 2 qualifying examinations
